Links O'Tryon

We’re excited to announce our first fundraiser. There will be others…some may come before this one…but this is the first big one that we can officially announce.

The First Annual Eliza Cait Memorial Golf Tournament will take place at Links O’Tryon on Sept. 29 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

We’re looking for as many hole sponsors that we can find. We want to cover the course with signs. To sponsor a hole, it’s just $100. We would like sponsors to not just be businesses, but families as well. The tournament will include four-person teams. It’s $300 for each team to play in the tournament.

If you choose to donate or play in this tournament, just know that it’s about so much more than golf.

Let me explain…

When Eliza Cait died after such a short battle with leukemia, Erin and I were devastated. I mean…she was 10-years-old. It was too much to comprehend. I spent so many days and nights asking Jesus to take me instead. I didn’t just ask, I begged. I begged over and over. Erin and I pleaded with God. We were on our knees when she took her last breath. Losing EC destroyed us. We’re not whole now nor will we ever be. We’ve been able to hold everything together for several reasons. First, we have each other to lean on. Second, we have Andrew and Molly that we have to be strong for. Third, there’s all of you that have poured prayers over us. The most important reason of all, however, is our faith in Jesus. As hard as it was to accept her no longer being with us here on earth, we believe wholeheartedly that we will see her again. In 1 Peter Chapter 1, it says:

“In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Our baby girl has received that inheritance. We believe it with all our heart. Our hope is in Jesus alone. It’s allowed us to know that we will see our sweet girl again. While we don’t understand…and we hurt beyond anything we could’ve ever imagined…we believe in Jesus with everything we have and know that our girl is with Him.

We want to share that hope of Jesus throughout the world. That’s what this golf tournament and other upcoming fundraisers are about. If you support us with a hole sponsorship or other donations to our ministry, you’re helping us share the hope that’s allowed us to stand through this tragedy that surely would’ve brought us to our knees without Jesus.

We’ve been on our knees…not because we can’t take it…but because we’ve asked Jesus for the strength to stand. There’s an old southern gospel song that says, “Down on my knees, that’s where I learned to stand. Oh Lord, I can’t even walk without You holding my hand.” Those words ring true for us. If we appear to be strong, it’s because Jesus is holding us up. Without Him, life is nothing. Without Him, we wouldn’t have the hope of seeing our Eliza Cait again.

Without Him, there is no eternal life. We believe that. Eliza Cait believed that. And we want to share that hope with the world. We ask you to believe that and help us share that message of hope with the world. This money from the golf tournament and other fundraisers isn’t to honor us or Eliza Cait.

It’s to help us and Eliza Cait honor Jesus. It’s to help make disciples for Jesus throughout the world. It’s to use dance as the vehicle to worship our almighty savior. There’s nothing more important that that to us. It’s not just about us seeing our daughter again…it’s about her meeting everyone that she helped lead to Jesus in heaven one day and then we can all dance in worship to Him.

If you’re interested in helping us as sponsor or with a team, please email me at bringlightdanceministry@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for your time.
